Genetic factors in the etiology of migraine
Skoblíková, Daniela ; Šolc, Roman (advisor) ; Mravec Bencúrová, Dominika (referee)
Migraine is a chronic condition with a significant prevalence in the human population- Its aetiology involves a combination of both environmental and genetic factors; however, the primary cause is still not entirely clear. The pathophysiological mechanism of the brain, which forms the basis of migraine aura, is considered to be a transient wave of neuronal depolarization in the cortex, known as cortical spreading depression (CSD). Despite considerable discrepancies, there is a wealth of information on suspected or already identified genes whose mutations could potentially be responsible for initiating the migraine state. Currently, there are three recognized responsible genes that have been identified through classical linkage analysis. All three known FHM mutations encode mechanisms that affect ion transporter: the CACNA1A, ATP1A2, and SCN1A genes. Their dysfunction ultimately leads to an increase in neuronal excitability. Pathogenic variants in other genes, such as PRRT2, PNKD, SLC2A1, SLC1A3, SLC4A4, and KCNK18, have also rarely been found in HM. Keywords: migraine, genetic factors, pain, aura
The role of the nurse in regime measures for a migraine sufferer
PAPOUŠKOVÁ, Veronika
In the presented bachelor thesis were set two main gals. The first one was to map needs of the sufferer with migraine. The second one was to describe regime meassures of the sufferer with migraine. Four research questions were developed to adress the objectives, which are as follows: How do patients subjectively describe the course of migraine attacks? What are the needs of a patient with migraine attack? What factors influence the frequency and course of migraine attacks? How much are patients with migraine attack inform about regime measures? The Empirical part of bachelor thesis was developed by using qualitative research methods. To the process of collect datas was used semi-structures interview technique. The interview consisted 28 questions, which are presented in Appendix 1. The findings were processed using open coding, pencil-and-paper technique. The research population consisted of a total od 9 informants who suffer from migraine. The subjects had to be over eighteen years of age and their experience of migraine had to be at least five years. The results of the research part are presented in the bachelor thesis trough tree main kategories. The first category focuses on the subjective description of the course of migraine attacks of individual informants. This category includes the frequency of migraine attacks, the description of the period before the attack, the course of the attack itself, and finally the posta-attack period. The secon category delas with the needs of migraine sufferers. Here is description of the informants´ behaviour during the attack, how much the informants are affected by migraine, and how the informants manage migraines pain. The last category focuses on regime measures. In this category, migraine patients describe migraine triggers, the regime measures followed by migraine patients, how informed the yre about migraine conditions, and what information they miss about migraine. The results of the bachelor thesis will be used by health professionals to expand information about the needs of migraine sufferers. The information found cant hen be used by nurses to map out the regime measures of patients with migraine. The obtained informations can also be used by migraine patients who would be able to better understand migraine-related conditions and regime measures based on the thesis.
Possibilities of physiotherapy for patiens with migraine headache.
POLANOVÁ, Edita
This bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of physiotherapy for patients with migraine headache. With accurate selected physiotherapy, patients have a reduction in the number of migraines and the pain during the attack decreases its intensity. Therapy for all patients is uniform in this work. Physiotherapy emphasizes improving the function of the respiratory system, reducing the tension of hypertonic muscles, stretching the muscles in the area of the AO junction, increasing the extension of the temporomandibular joint, increasing the extent in the cervical spine and relaxing the fascia of the head. The first goal of the work is to map the possibilities of physiotherapy for patients with migraine headaches. The second goal is to design exercises and create an exercise unit suitable for autotherapy for patients with migraine headache. The third goal of the work is to create educational material for patients with migraines. The work is divided into 2 parts. The theoretical part describes the disease (pathophysiology, clinical picture, disease diagnosis, differential diagnosis, complications, prevalence, treatment options, the impact on the patient in society and the possibilities of migraine physiotherapy). The second, practical part, is processed in the form of qualitative research and includes kinesiological examination and therapy of 6 women aged 23-46 years. Patients were informed about the therapy and that information about the results will be published in this work in the form of informed consent. After the initial examination, a physiotherapy unit was designed for the probands. To confirm the appropriately selected therapy, 10 therapies were performed with each patient and the patients were monitored for 6 months. Furthermore, the final kinesiological analysis and evaluation of therapy for each patient were written. The conclusion of the thesis contains the results of the research. The work can be used in clinical practice by a physiotherapist or as an educational material for patients with migraine headaches.

Title: The utilization of the elements of the Feldenkrais method in an individual with a headache. Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to assess the effect of exercising certain elements of the Feldenkrais method on individuals suffering from long-term headaches. Four exercise units containing elements of the Feldenkrais method have been created and evaluated with the aim of reducing the frequency and intensity of headaches and improving the range of motion of the cervical spine. Methods: The methodology of the work was a mixed research in the form of a quasi- experiment. The observed set consisted of 13 persons suffering from headaches - 12 females, 1 male, aged from 21 to 38 years old (average of 30,3 years). The research part of the thesis focused on assessing the impact of 8 weeks of doing exercises with elements of the Feldenkrais method on the range of motion of the cervical spine, and the intensity and frequency of headaches. The intervention consisted of exercising in the subjects' home environment twice a week for a duration of 8 weeks according to individually designed plans containing elements of the Feldenkrais method. The means of data collection were kinesiological examination (especially for the range of motion of the cervical spine), standardized questionnaires, anamnestic and...

They are accompanied by one of the following symptoms: photophobia, phonophobia, odorophobia, nausea, vomiting. From one seizure to the next, the patient feels like a healthy patient. In my work I describe current pharmacotherapeutic procedures in the treatment of migraine. In the first part of the diploma thesis, I presented a literature review of migraines, which begins with the classification of headaches. I continue with the definition of migraine, history, classification of migraine, pathophysiology, prevalence and diagnostic criteria of migraine. In the second part I describe the different types of treatment with their procedures and the drugs that are used. Based on our knowledge of the pathophysiology of migraine, new drugs have been developed for the treatment of acute migraine attacks that target calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and serotonin 5-HT1F receptors. I describe their mechanism, which drugs have been...

Investigation of food intolerances using Immunolab IgG4 Screen Nutritional Lineblot.
KARÁSKOVÁ, Pavla
Food intolerance is defined as a response of G immunoglobulins (IgG) to antigens, which come from specific types of food. Statistical analyses show that 45 - 60% of population suffer from intolerance to at least one type of foodstuff that may lead to clinical symptoms or to worsen such symptoms. Majority of people is not aware of their intolerance and therefore various symptoms are unnecessarily and unsuccessfully treated by medication. Signs of an intolerance can vary from skin irritation, digestive problems, up to overweight. The aim of my bachelor thesis was to prepare a professional literature review. Then to master practical methods enabling detection of 20 food intolerances from blood plasma using Immunolab IgG4 Screen Nutritional Lineblot, and presentation of findings about food intolerances. Theoretical part of the thesis is focused on differences between a food intolerance and food allergy, the most common causes of intolerances and their possible association with other diseases. Ways of investigations of intolerances are analysed together with a summary of experts' positions over this testing. Practical part of the thesis, which I performed in genetic laboratories GENLABS in České Budějovice, contains a precise description of performed method used for a detection of food intolerances and statistical analysis of retained results.
Pharmacotherapy of headaches in adults
Holinská, Eliška ; Hrdina, Radomír (advisor) ; Tilšer, Ivan (referee)
Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Student: Eliška Holinská Supervisor: Prof. MUDr. Radomír Hrdina, CSc. Title of diploma thesis: Pharmacoteraphy of headache in adults Headache is one of the most common health problem that encounters almost everyone during the life. Depending on the cause, headaches can be divided on the primary headaches, which are the subject of the diploma thesis, and secondary headaches, which are caused by other diseases. The primary headaches are migraine, tension-type headache, cluster headache and primary chronic daily headache. Headache is not a life-threating condition but it can significantly reduce the quality of life, particularly the chronic forms of headache. The determination of the right diagnosis is essential for the choice of appropriate therapy. For primary headache are typical negative test results, there are no structural lesions or signs of organic brain damage. Diagnostics is comlicated and it is primarily based on a carefully processed medical history. In the therapy of primary headache are used both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods, optimaly in combination. Pharmacological treatment consists of preventive and acute therapy. The preventive treatment is given to reduce the...
